After breakfast today, you will go to Sigiriya via Dambulla. You will have lunch at a restaurant and then go to the Dambulla Cave Temple. The Dambulla temple has five caves and 157 statues of the Lord Buddha, as well as many paintings on the ceilings and walls that show how talented artists were in ancient times. The caves, rock, and temple have been around since the 1st century BC. go up the Sigiriya Rock Fortress. Sigiriya Rock Fortress: Called by many names including 'The Lion Rock' for its initial name of 'Sinhagiri', Sigiriya is near the town of Dambulla and is a colossal column of rock nearly 200m high. It was a royal citadel for 18 years (477-495) when it was fortified by King Kasyapa. The architectural and irrigational technologies of Sigiriya, such as the Water Gardens, still baffle engineers. After breakfast today, you'll go to Kandy via Matale. On the way, stop by the Spice Garden to see why Sri Lanka is known around the world for its herbs and spices. The Spice Garden has the perfect conditions for growing cinnamon, vanilla, nutmeg, peppercorn, and other tasty treats. You'll also learn about how these natural products are grown in an environmentally friendly way. After lunch at a restaurant, you'll go on a city tour of Kandy.
Kandy is the hill capital and the site of the annual Perahera. The British took control of Kandy in 1815, making it the last bastion of the Sinhala Kings. Temple of the Sacred Tooth (Sri DaladaMaligawa) was built by the Kandyan Kings in 1595 to house and honour the sacred tooth relic of the Buddha. The Maligawa attracts crowds of white-clad pilgrims who bring lotus flowers as offerings. It has a lot of intricate carvings that show how important architecture is in Kandy. The City of Kandy is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site in part because of the Temple of the Tooth Relic. Later in the evening, you can see a unique cultural dance act.
Today after breakfast you will proceed to Nuwara Eliya. In route visit the Tea Factory. Learn about the Productions of Tea in Sri Lanka: The production of tea involves a tedious procedure of plucking, withering, rolling, oxidizing and drying – a process that requires heavy machines and plenty of manpower. Once in the tea factory, you would generally start out in the plantation itself to learn about how tea is cultivated, then visit the factory where ancient machines pre-dating the industrial revolution wither, roll and dry the tea. There is normally a little time at the end of the tour for a tea tasting, either of one specific type of tea or occasionally of the various specialties of that factory. Lunch at a Restaurant. Explore the city of Nuwara Eliya. Visit the highland city that was the premium holiday resort town of the British in the 19th and early 20th centuries. Enjoy walking through the streets with their pretty little cottages, quaint villas and beautiful mansions. Make a memory in the old red-bricked post office as you purchase a postcard to take home or send to your friends. Relax at Queen Victoria Park or on the shores of Lake Gregory. After finishing the tour in Nuwara Eliya check into the hotel and relax. Lake Gregory is one of the significant tourist attractions in Nuwara Eliya. With recent up liftmen in Nuwara Eliya area many recreation facilities introduced around the Gregory lake area. You can buy a ticket and visit the Lake Park and enjoy your evening by the lake. Need a boat ride…. They are there for you to offer a ride to get an unforgettable experience. Swan Boats are there to hire if you need a ride on your own. Overnight Stay in Nuwara Eliya.
After breakfast, you will go to Colombo. You will have lunch at a local restaurant. After lunch, you will go on a city tour of Colombo and do some shopping. Later evening Dinner at a Local Restaurant. After dinner drive to the Airport for your departure flight back home with all the memories you had in this beautiful island.
