Delhi, the capital of India and a key entry point, is a thriving metropolis that successfully blends the ancient with the modern. The Delhi Golf Club Peter Thompson constructed the 6972-yard, PAR 72, 18-hole golf course in 1977–1978. It received a significant boost when it was selected to host the inaugural Asian Games golf tournament in 1982. Every day, more than 500 golfers make history by playing on the busiest course in the nation. Additionally, the Club features a Nine Hole B Course that is mostly used by novices. The first hole on the main course, PAR 5, is 522 yards long and doglegs around a tough thorny thicket to the left. The traditional golf resort The Classic Golf Resort is world-class in every way and was built in accordance with international standards. Before the course officially opened for play in 1996, the construction materials had to be sourced to meet international standards, and samples of soil, sand, water, manure, and grass had to be sent overseas for testing to approved Nicklaus Research centers. Under the careful supervision and care of Nicklaus agronomists, special Tiff way 419 and Tiff dwarf grass, which are used on Nicklaus courses all over the world, have been planted and grown. CGR's irrigation system was established by Rainbird, the industry leader in golf course irrigation.
