Our agent will meet you when you arrive in Kolkata and take you to your accommodation. After checking in, you will have the entire day to yourself, so you can unwind or take in the stunning city. West Bengal's capital, Kolkata, is renowned for its delicious cuisine and rich cultural heritage. Kolkata, which served as India's capital from 1773 to 1911, is also home to several structures and monuments from before the country became free and democratic. In addition, Kolkata is home to the Mother House of the Missionaries of Charity, where the tomb of Mother Teresa, the nun who dedicated her life to caring for the dying and destitute in Calcutta's (now Kolkata's) slums, is located.

Furthermore, the city of Kolkata hosts a massive celebration of the well-known Durga Puja, a challenging event to miss. Even though Kolkata's modern structures and royal architecture are in stark contrast, they work well together. You will spend the night at the hotel.

Hefty, intricately carved statues of Goddess Durga are placed in residences and exquisitely adorned podiums throughout the city at the beginning of the festival. Following a parade through the streets with dancing and music, the statues are submerged in water at the conclusion of the celebration. On the occasion of Mahalaya, the Goddess is requested to visit the earth around one week before to the festival's commencement. In an auspicious custom known as Chokkhu Daan, the eyes are drawn on the Goddess idols on this day. On Saptami, a ceremony is conducted to call the sacred presence of Goddess Durga into the idols after they have been erected. Pran Pratisthan is the name of this ceremony. Throughout the festival, the Goddess is worshipped in all of her manifestations and is the object of daily prayers. In a ceremony known as the Kumari Puja, Goddess Durga is worshipped on Ashtami as a virgin maiden. The statutes are taken for immersion on the final day when Durga returns to her husband's home.
