We will
start this excursion from the national capital and bike towards our first
destination — Mandawa.Located in the popular Shekhawati region, the little
hamlet is famous for its attractive architecture and mural art. Even though we
will be riding on smooth highways throughout the entire route, we will strive
to leave early so that we are left with enough amount of time to tour the town
- also known as an open art gallery. After arriving at the pre-arranged
lodging, you may either choose to rest in the Hotel or head out and visit the
local art scene and the flea markets. Stay overnight at the Hotel.

After an
early breakfast at the Hotel, we will restart our journey and start riding
towards the beautiful (mainly blue) city of Jodhpur. Even though the distance
to be covered is in excess of three hundred km, it should not take us more than
seven hours as we would be riding on arrow-straight interstate highways. During
the ride, you will also notice the terrain starting to transform from green to
desert. Shortly after arrival, be ready to explore the lively alleyways of the
blue city on foot. Pay a visit to the spectacular Mehrangarh Fort and the
adjacent located Jaswant Thada. The city is also known for its street cuisine,
so make sure you munch your way around the Clock Tower area. Stay overnight at
the Hotel.
Have
breakfast at the Hotel and get ready for what is going to be a really
interesting day of riding as we make our way from the blue city to the golden
city. This generally six-hour journey might sometimes take a little more time
as riders tend to take a few more pauses to photograph the gorgeous panorama on
offer. Two-thirds into our adventure, we will ride past the well-known
settlement of Pokhran. On arrival, grab some rest at the Hotel and subsequently
walk out to explore the desert town of Rajasthan. The heritage monuments, the
medieval temples, and the shimmering bazaars — Jaisalmer is as authentic as
Rajasthan gets. Later, locate yourself in a peaceful area and watch the city’s
sandstone structures turn golden as the sun sets far in the west.
Have a
quiet breakfast at the Hotel and get ready for an eventful day of riding
through the enormous Thar Desert. During the entire ride, you will be able to
watch a number of camel carts maneuvering the sand dunes on both sides of the
route. There will be desert sand as far as you can see, so make sure you get a
little dirty in the sand and get that picture clicked with your bike against
the desert backdrop. After cycling for a couple of hours, arriving in the
border town of Longewala — the battle area of the 1971 Indo-Pak war. Visit the
Longewala battle Museum and see the fighter jets, guns, and tanks used in the
battle. After seeing the area’s surroundings, we will ride back to Jaisalmer in
the evening. Stay overnight at the hotel/campsite.
Today,
we will start riding as early as possible as the distance to be covered is just
shy of five hundred km. But the good part is that the roads are decent for the
entire stretch, with spectacular vistas of the Aravalli Hills and jungles
throughout. After riding from morning through the afternoon, we will make our
way into one of the finest cities in India — Udaipur. The city, often known as
the city of lakes, is also widely renowned for its opulent royal homes. Take a
boat ride in the magnificent Lake Pichola and see a lovely sunset while walking
around some of the city’s key attractions. If time permits (and if you have the
energy left), bike up to the spectacular Badi Lake hill-point and have a
panoramic view of the entire area. Stay overnight at the Hotel.
This is
going to be a very relaxed day of riding, so get a slow start in the morning
and eat breakfast at the hotel restaurant. The destination for the day is a
tiny town known as Pushkar. Over the last few years, Pushkar has started
drawing a lot of international tourists due to its relaxed back and less
touristy lifestyle. On arrival, rest for some time at the Hotel and later go
out for a walk around the town. You’ll be able to tour much of Pushkar in just
a couple of hours, including the only Brahma temple in the world. You may also
choose to climb up to the Savitri Mata Temple, located on top of a hill, and
have a bird’s eye view of the entire town. Stay overnight at the
hotel/campsite.
After
riding for six days across the state, we are going to arrive in its capital
city — Jaipur. Even though we have to ride a simple 150km, we will start early
so that we have enough time to enjoy all that Pink City has to offer. Arrive in
Jaipur around noon and check in at the hotel. Later, take your bike out and
ride around the city while exploring the many handcrafted markets, museums, and
other tourist attractions. As it’s not possible to check out all the places in
the city in just one day, we propose that you explore as much as possible. An
evening ride to the majestic Nahargarh Fort is strongly recommended. You may
choose to have a complimentary supper at the Hotel, or you could go out to any
of the city’s famed real Rajasthani restaurants and enjoy some traditional food
with some live folk music played by the local musicians. Stay overnight at the
Hotel.
Wake up
nice and easy, as this is going to be your last day on this monumental
adventure through Rajasthan. Have breakfast at the hotel restaurant and start
cycling back to where it all started. You may choose to get up early and
explore some of the sights in the city that you could not visit the day before.
The day’s journey should not take more than five to six hours as we will be
riding on the smooth NH-48 and will make our way to Delhi via Neemrana and
Gurgaon. After arriving at your final destination, bid adieu to your fellow
riders and continue on with your journey back home.
