Numerous
tribes in Rajasthan are also contributing to the state's culture and art by
adding colors, and tribal tours are currently popular among both domestic and
international tourists.
Travelers
prefer to book Tribal Tour Packages in Rajasthan that give them the opportunity
to meet and observe Rajasthan's tribal peoples because they are unique and can
live in the worst conditions. They also want to learn how these people live and
the skills they use to survive in these deserts.
The
largest tribes in Rajasthan are the Bhils and the Minas, who were the original
inhabitants of the region that is now Rajasthan but were driven into the
Aravalli Range by the Aryan invasion; smaller tribes include the Sahariyas,
Garasias, and the Gaduliya lohars. Today, they make up 12% of the state's
population, which is nearly twice the national average.
Although
the tribes have characteristics in common that appear to connect their past,
what distinguishes them from one another are the variations in their jewels,
clothes, fairs, and festivals.
BHILS:
The Bhils make up 39% of Rajasthan's tribal population, and Banswara is their
stronghold. The word "Bhils" comes from the word "Bhils,"
which refers to their inherent power and talent. The Bhils kept their numbers
stable by mixing with dissident Rajputs.
Legend
has it that the Bhils were skilled archers; both the Mahabharata and the
Ramayana mention Bhil bowmen. The Rajput rulers depended on them as warriors,
and despite their origins as food gatherers, the Bhils now engage in
small-scale farming, live in cities, and work.
Witchcraft,
sorcery, and superstition are firmly ingrained in Bhil tradition. The Baneshwar
fair is a Bhil celebration that takes place near Dungarpur every year in
January or February. Many Bhils come together for several days to sing, dance,
and worship. Holi is another significant time for Bhils.
